Happiness Brings Good Luck!

Happiness Brings Good Luck!

I received a fortune one night when I won Shanghai, a mahjong tile game I play on my iPad. At the game’s conclusion the fortune flashed up, “Happiness Brings Good Luck” and I thought, How true!

People often mistakenly think that when they have good luck then they will be happy. It’s actually the other way around: happiness acts like a magnet for your good fortune.

Mahatma Gandhi said,

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”

If you are interested in being right about your complaints and proving that point of view right, then you will find things in your life to complain about and you’ll disregard those things that go contrary to your point of view. However, if you are happy in your thoughts, you will see life through that lens.

When you are complaining about life, life sucks. When you let go of the idea that there’s something you need that will be more fulfilling than what you currently have, your life is a happy one – no matter what the circumstances.

Should you so choose (and choose and choose again and again …), happiness will be your destiny.

Thank you so much for this pearl of wisdom, Shya! It made me smile, and I noticed some of my tiny complaints this morning. So, now I choose happiness. 🙂
Your article also reminded me to turn away from my computer and look at the little plack I have standing on a sideboard in our little home office. It says: “Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.”
